Now Playing: Something Beautiful - NEEDTOBREATHE
Lately, life has been great. The past six months of my life have been hard... and drastically different than my life has ever been. I've changed. I've grown into a person I didn't know was in me. The way my life has turned out is forcing me to grow up quicker than I had originally planned...
I'm so thankful for the people that have stuck by my side, helped me through this, and brought me out of the rain in times when I just wanted to lay there... in the dark... and stay there. I've got a boy that has helped me through this time more than anyone. Someone I had no idea was ever even there before. He lifts me up in the times when I honestly don't think I can get up, he makes me laugh even harder when I'm already laughing, and has brought so much joy to my life. In fact, I just had to take an online quiz that I got a 70% on... :/ He replies to my text saying: "It's over now so stressing about it won't change anything. Just be happy you're still beautiful and funny. :):)" I'm a lucky girl.
Just very thankful tonight. <3 ...for everyone.

This was just posted today on The Carly Henley Project website. I feel as though I should share it on here as well.
Sunny Day, Windows Down, Music Up
Everyone has a unique relationship with Carly. She played a different role in each of our lives. For me, Carly is the one that I would call on the long walk home from class. She’s the girl that got me to renew my library card and start learning new things. She’s the best sleepover partner a girl could ask for, my pedicure pal, my movie-going companion, and the girl I like to call one of my best friends.
To me… “Carly” is driving around on a sunny day with the windows down and the music up. I can see her now as she turns the volume up, turns to me with the hammiest smile you can imagine and starts singing and snapping along with the music. Carefree, fun loving, goofy, and most of all… someone you could be yourself around. She truly was a person of no judgment, and she constantly showed me that throughout our friendship. Our heart-to-hearts about life, love, and even heartache would leave me feeling inspired by her words, always so sure, knowing that life was going to get even better than it already was. “I’m so excited for you to fall in love!” she said to me once. Believe me Car, you’ll be the first to know.
Those uplifting, encouraging conversations with Carly truly inspired me; but the goofy moments with her are what I find myself missing the most. I can’t even begin to explain all of the fun, memorable times that we shared together, from driving around and getting lost in unfamiliar places, to making goofy videos, to conversations in the hot tub about how we loved that our sisters were best friends as well. Every once in awhile Carly, Blake, Alyssa and I would have what we liked to call “double sister sleepovers.” Carly tried to teach me how to decorate cakes one sleepover night, since she had recently taken a cake-decorating class. We ended up goofing around and made the girls a cake, writing out “Sisters for Life”… which couldn’t be truer, still to this day. I miss those sleepovers. I miss everything about her. The fact that Carly was such an amazing person and friend, is allowing me to live… to be happy… and to truly appreciate the time that I spent with her.
The world knew her as a genuine girl full of love, with a voice full of passion. I loved when she would get out her guitar and play me the new song she had written that week. I was always in awe, yet somehow not surprised one bit at how she could write such true and honest lyrics that came straight from her heart. She played the new song she had just written, called “You Move Me” in my bedroom the day of my graduation party. Graduation time was an emotional time already, but as I sat there watching and listening to her sing about God and her faith, I couldn’t help but feel so blessed that she was MY friend. I got to call her a best friend, one of the best friends that I could have ever asked for. Carly and I drove to graduation together, just her and I, and listened to “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” by Green Day on repeat the entire way. I can hear her now, saying “Shan! We did it!” I hope you had the time of your life, Carly. I miss you so much. Love you long time my friend.

12/15/10 2 CommentsCheckin' in.
As I sit here... I know that I still have 2 finals, and a final paper that I should be worried about. However, right now, I will pretend I have absolutely no worries, nothing on my mind to stress about. Currently listening to "Heavenly Day" by Patty Griffin. I've realized lately that life is too precious and wonderful to take anything for granted. Please, please don't take anyone, friends, family, anyone you ever encounter in life for granted. This is especially important during the holidays. You know that quote... about being kind to everyone you meet, because everyone is fighting some sort of battle. COULD NOT BE MORE TRUE. With the recent passing of my friend, I realize that someone that gives me a smile as we pass each other, or just someone that is a little nicer than the average person... makes a day SO much better. Truly. I think that striving to be that person is greater than anything else you can work for in life. Be a good person. Treat others like you want to be treated (so cliche, but you all know it's true!).
Keep on keepin' on everybody, and have a great holiday. :) -Shannon

Please look at this mission for my dear best friend Carly Henley. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1267646260/the-carly-henley-project
Take time to read it and watch the video and consider donating to keep the memory of her alive. Help her complete her dream. She was the most loving and caring person I have ever met and deserves to be honored.

About carriecrazeeee
Ohhh.. I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end. I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend. But I always thought that I'd see you again...
I'm Shannon, I'm a student at Washington State University (GO COUGS!), and I have the best family and friends that I could EVER ask for. I love to hang out with them and have a good time. I appreciate good music. I love anything that reminds me of summer.. but mostly I love summer. Summer in the northwest is probably one of the best things ever. It is wonderful. <3 I like to take pictures with my friends. I believe in enjoying your own life, don't make others miserable.. Let them live theirs. :) Aka... LIVE AND LET LIVE!!
